Thanks to the support received through Betterplace, we were able to accomplish all the goals we set at the beginning of our project. During the Covid pandemic, the donations allowed us to provide Wi-Fi access to all local high school students to continue their education remotely. In recognition of their dedication, three local girls who helped keep the island’s beaches clean during the pandemic were rewarded with Open Water Diver certifications! (Their story can be read here: https://www.no-trashtriangle.org/action/2020/12/23/our-three-angels-helping-bangkas-young-people-learn-to-scuba-dive) We were able to build a small sorting station using basic materials, which allowed us to improve our waste recovery system and organize shipments of recyclable materials to the mainland more effectively. These milestones would not have been possible without the ongoing support from the Betterplace community, so we want to say a HUGE thanks to all of you!!!
