managed by Falk Herzog, Neue Eutiner Festspiele
Since 1951, the Eutin Festival has presented operas, operettas, musicals and concerts every summer on one of the most beautiful open-air stages in Germany. Under the motto "Experience nature, enjoy culture" we offer our annual audience of more than 30,000 people a year a sophisticated musical theatre with internationally outstanding artists.
The festival is carried out in the form of a non-profit limited company solely by private commitment from Eutin. Public funding for their stage productions is provided institutionally by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the city of Eutin and the district of Ostholstein; the Festival traditionally generates 85 percent of its annual budget from its own revenues through ticket sales, donations and sponsoring. Its guiding principle is the cultivation of classical music culture in rural areas in memory of the composer Carl Maria von Weber, who was born in Eutin in 1786.
