About us
The aim of Africa (k)now e.V.'s work is to successfully teach reading, writing and maths skills to children aged 3-6 (Nursery School) in Uganda. This work is based on three pillars:
1. teacher training in the areas of reading, writing and arithmetic with the aim of effective, pupil-centred knowledge transfer.
2. setting up and expanding model schools that teach on the basis of the learning methods taught in the training courses.
3. implement agricultural income projects to provide material support for needy parents and teachers.
We work closely with a partner organisation in Mbale/Uganda. This organisation runs one of our model schools, the Africare Nursery and Primary School. Two other model schools are located in rural areas outside the city of Mbale. We also work with six other partner schools in other districts of the country and organise teacher training courses there. Nearly 100 teachers have in the last 3 years been trained.
To generate income, we run projects with chickens, goats and cows through our Ugandan partner organisation.
