Thank you to everyone who has donated to Allen's fund raiser, supporting the work of the Song Saa Foundation in the Koh Rong archipelago. With the countdown reaching its final 14 days, our intrepid runner is nearing the end of his preparations. You can read about these, here, in Allen's latest update.
Completed my last weekend of running training this morning (Sunday). 20k on Friday evening, 30k on Saturday morning and 30k this morning. A really hot weekend here in Singapore, so this final 80k, which is the same distance as stage 5 of The Sahara Race, was good to squeeze in. Trying not to think too much right now that I will have had to run a marathon every day for 4 days, before I even get to the 77k stage 5.
In two weeks-time The Sahara Race in Namibia will have started, but I’m still struggling to get my backpack weight down to below my target of 9kg (excluding water). I’m currently at 9.7kg, but the food I’m taking is only 120 Calories over the minimum 14,000 Calories required for the 7 days. It’s hard to figure out what else I can cut, but hopefully I’ll find something that I can leave behind.
So it’s two weeks of lounging around watching TV and eating pies and doughnuts for me…the calm before the storm!!
