The camp for [future] is a place for young people and people that are new to the climate movement taking place from August 2nd - 11th in the Rhenish lignite mining region near Cologne. There will be workshops, a diverse evening programme and peaceful actions. This year the camp is joint together with the summer camp of Young Friends of the Earth Europe so it will be even more colourful and international!
The camp should be a safe harbour within the climate movement, where young climate-active people can connect with each other, learn together and can be guided to engage with their own projects.
The main target group of the camp are young people from the age of 16. But still everyone is welcome who wants to try out new ways of living together, who wants to learn more about environmental protection and environmental and social justice, who wants to learn new practical skills reaching from speech training over drumming or yoga, who wants to spend cosy evenings with concerts, poetry slam or at the bonfire, who wants to connect in an international context or who wants to get active against brown coal. Money shouldn’t be a problem – the financial contribution of 9€ per day will continue to be based on donations.
The camp is mainly organised by a team of young volunteers, who shape the infrastructure, the programme and everything else in a participatory process. Support comes from two full-time staff persons from BUNDjugend NRW. On the campground everyone is invited to participate and we need every help we can get!
Unfortunately, our financial application for financial grants was unsuccessful - which is why we desperately need new ways of paying for the infrastructure and programme both of which is necessary to realise our camp! We would highly appreciate any donations!
