Honduras was one of Hurricane Mitch's most hit countries in 1998. Large parts of the country were destroyed and many people lost all their belongings. In particular, around 50% of the population living on the margins of society or below the poverty line were affected and suffered the consequences.
This gave us the idea in the year 2000 to found the Deutsch-Honduranische Gesellschaft e.V. We wanted to help Honduras rebuild and develop after this momentous catastrophe. Since then, we have achieved a great deal with various projects - from container collection campaigns and continuing medical education to the support of schools and children's homes.
Nevertheless, there is still a lot of need for support and with our many years of experience and our network of helpers and partners on site, we are still full of energy to build bridges between Honduras and Germany.
Our pillars are sustainability, reliability and warmth.
Sustainability means to us:
Promote existing resources and thus create the basis for a self-determined development.
Reliability means for us:
To give all participants the certainty that agreements are adhered to and project developments are communicated openly.
Warmth means to us:
To live a friendly togetherness and to realize ideas together with joy.
The Deutsch-Honduranische Gesellschaft e.V. is a non-profit organization under German law located in Münster. The association was founded with the aim of improving the social and economic fundament in Honduras.
Our members work voluntarily and all donations go 1 to 1 in our projects!
