    About this project

    N. Ebrahimy from NAZO Deutschland, Hilfe für Afghanische Frauen e.V is responsible for this project
Why do stars conceal the women’s faces?

The security situation in Afghanistan worsens every year, even monthly.
Every day people are being kidnapped, robbed, raped or even killed.
The fundamentalist forces expanded their influence and are now again in a position – as they were during the rule of the Taliban – to browbeat, threaten and hurt people, especially women.
Globalization enables the Afghan population and the whole rest of the world to access websites like these.
In order to safe the women’s identity we decided - in comply with the women’s request – to edit the photos in a manner that they would not be recognized and place upon the faces the white NAZO-Star.

Since 2002 NAZO Deutschland e.V. supports - in cooperation with our sister organisation in Afghanistan- education and apprenticeship of girls and women.

Our work adherents to the principle: “Empowering girls and women is the only path for Afghanistan to develop a peaceful civil society”.

Hence during their apprenticeship within the local NAZO training centres the girls and women are also acquiring skills to make demands on their rights and to sustain their position in the space of a patriarchal society.

At the NAZO training centres women and girls have the possibility to learn three different trades: Tailoring, jewellery design and stitching leather.

Our Students are learning and working at 5 different places in the City of Kabul and in the two provinces of Kabul and Kapiza.
