HELP SUSANNE RETURN TO A NEW LIFE

RehaAssistenzhunde Deutschland e.V.
A project from RehaAssistenzhunde Deutschland e.V. in Cammin, Germany
The Bundeswehr and Heilführungsorge do not support the training of assistance dogs, so I would like to ask for your support. Every amount helps me get a little closer to my dream. Thank you very much.

About this project

Astrid Ledwina from RehaAssistenzhunde Deutschland e.V. is responsible for this project
Hello my name is Susanne, I am a soldier. Not only did I experience multiple deployments abroad, but I survived! At least part of me. The stressful events that occurred during my missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Mali never left my mind. Images of killed and seriously wounded people keep coming back to me; I can never forget them. When it came to emergency care and rescue of a local child, we were on our own. The atmosphere on site was not peaceful and the people were not well disposed towards us. Suddenly a rescue operation turned into an acute threat. People harassed and threatened us. Requested support could not come. My team and I were scared to death. Since the experiences, I can no longer tolerate sudden crowds. I immediately see the images again and the smells in my nose again. The body goes through extreme stress again and again. In 2019 I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A SERVICE DOG WILL HELP
To support my healing process, I would like a specially trained assistance dog. I met my dog Amy at an appointment with RehaAssistenzhunde-Deutschland e. V. already met. I immediately felt very comfortable with her and my heart rate went down significantly. She is being trained as a PTSD assistance dog for me. During the intensive training, Amy will learn to interrupt my states of tension. She will learn to wake me up from nightmares and calm me down when the stress gets too much. When shopping, Amy uses blocking to keep other people at a distance. If I become disoriented, Amy can guide me to the car or out of crowds. She can bring me my emergency medication. Training an assistance dog is very time-consuming and also very expensive. Amy's training will cost €35,500. The Bundeswehr and Heilführungsorge do not support the training of assistance dogs, so I would like to ask for your support. Every amount helps me get a little closer to my dream.

Thank you very much.
