About this project
Aleppo is the hometown of Bakri Kamurgi, manager of the Berlin restaurant "Kreuzberger Himmel," which is run by 14 refugees, his wife Rahaf Moussa and their joint children. As a lawyer, Bakri Kamurgi defended opponents of the regime in Aleppo until he ended up on the death list in 2015. He fled to Germany and has since lived with his family in Berlin.
Like many others, he still has relatives in Aleppo. He sends money and helps as much as he can. His father-in-law, who is still on the ground, uses the money to support the earthquake victims, cooks food and distributes it in the streets of Aleppo.
Even a week after the earthquake, thousands of people are largely on their own. Hardly any help is arriving - also because dictator Assad is using the catastrophe for his own purposes. As recently as February 12, Assad had a Kurdish Crescent aid convoy stopped outside the city, preventing the delivery.
Help us so that we can directly help the people who are all alone in the Syrian earthquake area through private contacts.
