    About this project

Sven Herpig from Stiftung Neue Verantwortung e.V. is responsible for this project
Cyber security has become a central component of Germany’s domestic, foreign policy as well as security and defence policy. Over time, a complex network of interconnected actors has emerged, spanning from the United Nations to Germany’s municipalities.

The International Cybersecurity Policy Team of the non-profit think tank Stiftung Neue Verantwortung has taken on the task of mapping this complex ecosystem to make it more accessible and easier to understand.

Our open-access publication Germany's Cybersecurity Architecture is now available in its 9th edition and provides a comprehensive overview of the network of actors at the federal state, national and international levels.

The publication is aimed at politicians, civil servants, researchers, civil society, and industry as well as the interested public.

It provides comprehensive and accessible data not only to inform political projects and research but also the public debate on questions of German cybersecurity policy. We are convinced that a comprehensive understanding of the network of actors is an important prerequisite for effective and sustainable cybersecurity policy.

Since the German cybersecurity landscape is subject to constant change, we publish an updated version every six months in spring and autumn. Together with the autumn edition, we publish an English translation to reach an international readership. The interactive visualisation of the cybersecurity architecture is updated on an ongoing basis.

As part of the 10th edition, published in spring 2023, we will:

    • add newly established actors and update those that undergo fundamental changes in the coming months,
    • update the profiles of all actors at EU level,
    • expand on the interactive visualisation.
Sadly, we can no longer fund the publication exclusively from SNV’s limited reserves. To be able to continue to offer and develop the publication on a non-profit, open-access basis, we need to ask for your financial support.

Any funds raised will be used exclusively to support this project.

We know that for years our publication has attracted many readers and has been used for a variety of purposes, including conferences, lectures, in political discourse and in the media. We therefore hope that many of those individuals, organisations or companies who have benefitted from our efforts will donate to support the continued publication.

Only with your support, we can continue to provide it as a central point of reference for information on Germany’s cybersecurity architecture.
