About us
Mercy Ships is an international, faith-based charity that operates the largest civilian hospital ship in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to some of the world's poorest countries. The floating hospitals "Global Mercy" and "Africa Mercy" provide a state-of-the-art, safe and clean environment for patients - and volunteers.
Since 1978, Mercy Ships has worked with compassion in over 70 countires, providing services that have directly helped more than 2.5 million people.
The teams of volunteers on board the hospital ships treat dental and eye problems, cleft lips and palates, tumours, club feet, childbirth injuries, burns and a variety of other conditions. The teams also work closely with host nations to improve the way healthcare is delivered - by training and mentoring local staff, providing tools and equipment, and renovating hospitals and clinics. Mercy Ship aims to bless each country the organisation visits, leaving behind a strong infrastructure when the hospitalship sails away.

Ihre Spende hilft, unsere medizinische Arbeit in Afrika durchzuführen. Seit über 45 Jahren bringt Mercy Ships mit Hospitalschiffen chirurgische Hilfe zu den Ärmsten der Armen in Afrika. Mit unseren Hospitalschiffen, der Africa Mercy und Global Mercy, steuern wir vornehmlich westafrikanische Länder südlich der Sahara an, da es in diesen Regionen im Durchschnitt nur zehn Ärzte auf 100.000 Einwohner gibt. Unsere Einsatzteams vor Ort behandeln dort viele kranke Kinder und Erwachsene, die sich keine medizinische Versorgung leisten können. Bereits durch einfache operative Eingriffe verhelfen wir diesen Menschen wieder zu neuer Lebensqualität und Würde. Dadurch können viele wieder am gesellschaftlichen Leben teilnehmen und erhalten Hoffnung und neuen Lebensmut.
