About us

For more than 10 years, dokKa — the documentary festival — has presented not only documentary films, but also audio documentaries in cinemas, in a concept that is unique in Germany. The festival is open to anyone interested. The festival explores current and socially relevant topics and their realization through artistic media.

All of the artists, directors, and authors who participate in the festival are present and take part in discussions after screenings. Encounters and exchanges, including breakfast together, are an important part of the festival.

During the five-day festival, an independent jury awards several prizes. The main venue is the Kinemathek Karlsruhe; other events take place at the Schauburg and other locations.

dokKa always takes place on a weekend with a public holiday and bridge day, offering an all-day program from Wednesday to Sunday evening.
