About us

Our animal welfare association, based in the Regensburg region, takes care of dogs and cats from animal shelters in Slovakia in the region at the foot of the High Tatras.
The conditions there are extremely difficult. Animal shelters are often completely overcrowded with more than 100 dogs and also several cats, and new animals in need have to be taken in all the time.
Most of the dogs that live in the region are not kept in a species-appropriate manner, which means that chaining and kenneling are widespread. Many dogs are not fed regularly and if they are, then only with waste.
The worst thing, however, is that it is quite normal to throw out an animal when it is no longer needed or is simply too old or is about to have babies - simply put it on the street or take it to the nearest forest and leave it to its fate. If they are lucky, these dogs are then brought to the animal shelter by kind people.
