About us

The team behind Café Mehrrettich e.V. is united by the goal of saving edible food from the trash instead of throwing it away. Through the foodsharing platform, we and other food savers in Tübingen collect food from cooperating businesses. This is important, but it does not solve the problem. Despite all efforts, more than 11 million tons of edible food end up in the garbage in Germany - more than half of it in private households.
That's why we want to create the foodsharing café Mehrrettich in downtown Tübingen. At Mehrrettich, rescued food will be offered free of charge. Drinks are available according to the "pay-what-you-want" principle. Thus, the café aims to promote a more conscious approach to food without the pressure of having to buy something. In addition, we want to bring our vision of food appreciation to a broader audience through workshops, cooking and film evenings.
