Ocean wildlife is threatened by overfishing and pollution. Ocean Wildlife Project e.V. is committed to protecting the wildlife of the ocean. The organization supports targeted research projects that promote the establishment and creation of marine protected areas and national parks. The migrations and habitats of endangered shark and ray species are a particular focus. A donation will be used directly in local, effective projects led by researchers and experts. Die Spende wird in das Ocean Wildlife Project einfließen und dient zur Anschaffung von Labormaterial zur DNA Analyse in der Biskaya in der nächsten Expeditionsaison 2025/2026. Die DNA-Analyse, speziell die Analyse von Umwelt-DNA (eDNA), ist eine revolutionäre Methode, um Tiere im Meer zu bestimmen, indem man DNA-Spuren (aus Hautzellen, Schleim, Kot) direkt aus Wasserproben analysiert, was eine genaue Erfassung der Artenvielfalt ermöglicht, ohne die Tiere fangen oder stören zu müssen.
