About us

Musaik – Grenzenlos musizieren is a social music project based in the Prohlis district of Dresden.

Musaik offers free instrumental lessons to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The group lessons promote skills such as tolerance, responsibility, communication, creativity, self-confidence, patience and perseverance.

Any interested child can take part, regardless of their previous (musical) education, social background or country of origin.

Currently, around 100 participants from 20 different countries are active in the Musaik orchestra. Musaik opens up new perspectives for children and young people from different social and cultural backgrounds and promotes social integration and cultural participation.

Attending lessons three times a week after school fosters a sense of belonging and community. Regular public performances and workshops in Dresden's Prohlis district extend this sense of community to parents and local residents.

Musaik – Grenzenlos musizieren e. V. was founded in Dresden in 2017.
