This project supports the local animal welfare in Veliko Gradiste. The goal is to provide a sanctuary for stray dogs and to reduce the huge problems.
The sanctuary is named after a street dog. Nina was a small, shy dog, who lived on the streets of the village and was given food by local animal rights activists. She had a place to sleep on a factory site and should soon be rescued. Unfortunately this did not happen, because before there was a place for Nina at the shelter, she died along with other cats and dogs of poison.
This is not an individual case, this happens week by week. We don't want to look away so we have to take action to help the abandoned animals. To put an end to this horror and to put the animals in safe places and take care that the situation will change, the local animal welfare of Veliko Gradiste, called "P.U.Z.", needs the support of as many animal friends as possible!
There are already a few great milestones, which have been mastered by the hard work of the people on site and with the help of donations from Germany. On the early beginnings there was a fallow land without any electricity and flowing water where they had space for about 20 dogs.
Things that have already been achieved:
- Development of a property with approximately 3,000 square meters
- Convinced the mayor to support the animal welfare
- Establishment of boxes for 120 animals
- Puppy House
- Veterinary Support
- Supply the animals with food, medicines, etc.
- Educational work among the population
To further improve this progress and to provide the best dogs and offer them a secure future, the club is PUZ in Serbia in need of help. Every euro arrives and is urgently needed.
The next big step is the construction of a small building, where the animals can be supplied under veterinary hygienic best possible conditions. In addition, in the building sanitary facilities and a common room are.
