Hinz&Kunzt, das Hamburger Straßenmagazin

managed by Gabriele Koch

About us

The Hamburg street magazine is currently sold by around 500 “Hinz&Künztler:innen” on the streets of Hamburg and in the surrounding areas. The vendors are people who are or have been homeless or without stable housing. By selling the monthly magazine, they can earn some money, take part in social life again, have a sense of purpose, and regain some self-confidence.
For more than 30 years, Hinz&Kunzt has been providing help for self-help and offers low-threshold support services for those who are on their own and socially marginalized. Recently, it has also become possible to pay digitally when buying the magazine from a Hinz&Künztler on the street, as well as to read it in a digital version.
Hinz&Kunzt advocates for people who are unable to represent their own interests and does not receive any public funding. The sales revenue that remains within the project covers about one third of the expenses; the rest is financed through donations.
