About us

Nachtcafé Berlin-Friedrichshain, est. 1996, offers emergency accommodation Thursdays 6PM-7:30AM year-round. Part of Berlin's cold weather assistance, hosted at facilities of Samaritan Church.

We serve ~60 guests: meals, sleeping for 30, showers, laundry. Many just come for food or company. Open all night, crucial in winter.
As low-threshold facility, we provide info on further help. Strict no-alcohol/drugs policy, non-denominational.
Regulary needs: hygiene items, non-perishable food, men's clothing, money (via Betterplace).

~10-12 volunteers (~50 in total) in shifts:

Evening: 5:45PM-9:45PM
Night 1: 9:45PM-4AM
Night 2: 4AM-8AM
Morning: 6AM-9AM

We're an independent, collectively organized shelter. All helpers, including board, are volunteers. Small allowance for night shifts.
