About us
In Germany, over 40,000 children and adolescents are so seriously ill that they will not reach adulthood. The Mannheimer Verein Kinderhospiz Sterntaler e. V. supports these life-shortening children, adolescents and young adults as well as their families and accompanies them on their difficult journey.
Pediatric palliative care begins with the diagnosis and can continue for weeks, months and even years. The sick children and their families are accompanied over the entire course of the disease.
For outpatient nursing as well as voluntary support, the Sterntaler would like to offer the affected families an additional possibility of support with the inpatient children's hospice, which was completed in 2009.
The former mill in Dudenhofen is a "little oasis in the country", a place of peace and strength that families with their sick children can visit again and again in order to be strengthened for the often years of care and support.

Die tiergestützte Therapie ist bei unseren Sterntaler-Kindern sehr beliebt. Wir haben einmal pro Woche Besuch von ausgebildeten Therapiehunden, die mit ihrem Frauchen zu unseren Kindern kommen. Die Besuche sind mittlerweile nicht mehr aus dem Wochenprogramm wegzudenken. Wir haben uns auf die Besuche einer Expertin mit ihren Begleitern auf 4 Pfoten festgelegt, weil sie bezogen auf Therapien von lebensverkürzend erkrankten Kindern genau geschult ist. Dieser geschulte Umgang mit unseren kleinen Patient*innen ist ein großer Pluspunkt zu dem ohnehin schon berührenden Zusammensein unserer Kinder mit den lieben Hunden.
