About us
In Germany, over 40,000 children and adolescents are so seriously ill that they will not reach adulthood. The Mannheimer Verein Kinderhospiz Sterntaler e. V. supports these life-shortening children, adolescents and young adults as well as their families and accompanies them on their difficult journey.
Pediatric palliative care begins with the diagnosis and can continue for weeks, months and even years. The sick children and their families are accompanied over the entire course of the disease.
For outpatient nursing as well as voluntary support, the Sterntaler would like to offer the affected families an additional possibility of support with the inpatient children's hospice, which was completed in 2009.
The former mill in Dudenhofen is a "little oasis in the country", a place of peace and strength that families with their sick children can visit again and again in order to be strengthened for the often years of care and support.

In der aktiven Musiktherapie erzeugt der Patient selbst Klänge und darf verschiedene Instrumente ausprobieren. Es geht jedoch nicht darum, dass der Patient ein Musikinstrument erlernt oder musikalisch ausgebildet wird. Das Ziel ist es, dass der Betroffene eine Verbindung zu seinen Gefühlen herstellt und seine Kreativität entfaltet.
Außerdem kann mit Hilfe der Musiktherapie die Ausdrucksfähigkeit gestärkt, die Konzentrationsfähigkeit gesteigert oder auch an der Körperwahrnehmung sowie am Selbstbewusstsein des Patienten gearbeitet werden. Bei älteren Menschen oder Demenzpatienten können bekannte Lieder Erinnerungen wecken. In der Gruppenmusiktherapie kann durch die gemeinsame Improvisation ein starkes Gefühl von Zugehörigkeit und Geborgenheit entstehen.
