About us
Intiwawa is a dynamic and young organization with the goal of fighting poverty in the slums of Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru. Founded as a German-Peruvian organization in 2007, we now consist of an international team volunteering in Peru and in Germany.
Our goal is the integral development of the children and their parents and a sustainable improvement of their living standards. To achieve this goal and fight the symptoms of poverty, Intiwawa carries out projects in several areas:
Education: Homework support, English classes, computer classes
Health: Dentist project, healthy nutrition, personal hygiene
Strengthening sociocultural values: Social workshops and cultural workshops
Strengthening environmental values: Recycling, planting plants
Projects with the parents: Parent’s School, Knitting projects for the mothers
For more information please check: www.intiwawa.org/projects.html
In order to make our goal reality we require as much support as possible, from volunteers, donors, and sponsors.
Thank you very much for your valuable support!

Dear Intiwawa community,
Many thanks for your ongoing support which keeps our activities running! Read on to find out what we have been doing over the last few weeks:
Dental Health Clinic:

Thanks to a partnership with the clinic Paz Holandesa, all of our students and their siblings had the opportunity to participate in a free dental clinic! In cases where a child needed a follow up appointment, a local university provided low-cost care options.
With the donations from the Intiwawa community, we were able to buy toothbrushes for all of our students, and they now brush their teeth every day at program!
Greenhouse Project:

Every Friday, Intiwawa students walk to the Intiwawa greenhouse at a nearby partner farm! They plant and grow vegetables like lettuce, onion, beets, and chard. When it's time to harvest, students bring the vegetables back to Intiwawa to make healthy dinners, and the leftovers get sent home to their families!
