Liebe Spender:Innen,

Wir sind extrem überwältigt davon, wie viel Geld bei unserer Spendenaktion “Anstatt von Blumen - Spenden für die ME/CFS Forschung” nach Janas Tod zusammengekommen ist. Das zeigt einmal mehr, was für ein besonderer Mensch Jana gewesen ist, und wie sehr sie in verschiedenen Kreisen und Communities bewundert wurde. Ohne ihr Netzwerk, entstanden durch ihre Arbeit als erfolgreiche Strickdesignerin sowie durch ihr Engagement für andere Menschen mit ME/CFS, wäre dies nie möglich gewesen.

Die gesamten Spenden gehen an die ME/CFS Research Foundation, und speziell an das Biomarker Projekt der Charité Berlin. Das Ziel dieses Projektes ist die Entwicklung von Biomarkern (mögliche Veränderungen der Blutkörperchen sowie das Auftreten von Mikrogerinnseln bei ME/CFS-Patienten) und ein besseres Verständnis über die Ursachen der Erkrankung. Die Mechanismen von ME/CFS sind komplex, und das Projekt der Charité Berlin trägt dazu bei, die komplexen Mechanismen von ME/CFS besser zu verstehen und neue Wege zur Behandlung zu eröffnen.

Wir hoffen sehr, dass die ermöglichte Forschung bald einen kleinen Teil dazu beiträgt, das Leiden der vielen ME/CFS-Erkrankten etwas zu lindern.

Dear Donors,

We are extremely overwhelmed by the amount of money raised through our fundraising campaign "Instead of Flowers - Donate for ME/CFS Research" following Jana's death. This shows once again what a special person Jana was and how much she was admired in a wide variety of circles and communities. Without her network, which developed from being a successful knitting designer as well as from being an advocate for other people with ME/CFS, this would never have been possible.

All donations go to the ME/CFS Research Foundation, and specifically to the Biomarker Project at the Charité Berlin. The goal of this project is to develop biomarkers (possible changes in blood cells and the occurrence of micro clots in ME/CFS patients) and to gain a better understanding of the causes of the disease. The mechanisms of ME/CFS are complex, and the Charité Berlin project contributes to a better understanding of the complex mechanisms of ME/CFS and to open up new avenues for treatment.
