Daily Report 2 & 3
Sorry that there wasn’t an update yesterday, but it’s been quite difficult to get any network at all.
So I have left Eastbourne yesterday morning at around 8am which was just perfect for a Saturday. The cycling was great. It took me along the coastline most of the time with some parts through the backcountry as well. The weather was nice as well and I actually got a little sunburned. There were two major climbs on yesterday’s route. First one was in Folkestone which in the end gave me a great view across the town and the sea and the second one was in Dover on my way to St. Margaret-at-Cliffe, where I stayed the night. Today I had to leave quite early as well in order to catch the ferry. It was quite an experience to see the ferry port, and all the people heading to different places. After I arrived in France I had a “private” follow me car to escort me out of the ferry terminal. The weather was really nice again but with a few more clouds than yesterday. The Landscape of Belgium is also fantastic and so are the cycling lanes. As much as I love the UK, this is definitely something they could copy in order to make cycling safer. Tonight I’m staying in Brugge. Brugge is a lovely city with many nice restaurants and cafes along the canals. So if you haven’t been here it’s definitely worth a trip. Next stop tomorrow will be Antwerp.
Tagesbericht Nummer 2 &3
Entschuldigung, dass es gestern keinen Tagesbericht gab, aber der Handyempfang war nicht sonderlich gut.
Ich bin gestern Morgen bereits gegen 8 in Eastbourne losgefahren und konnte die Landschaft entlang der Küste in Verbindung mit ein paar Landstraßen genießen. Das Wetter ist auch Top gewesen und ich habe mir sogar einen kleinen Sonnenbrand gefangen. Auf der gestrigen Tour galt es 2 Anstiege zu erklimmen. Der erste Anstieg war bei Folkestone, aber anschließend hatte man einen großartigen Blick über die Stadt und das Meer. Der zweite Anstieg befand sich in Dover auf dem Weg nach St. Margaret-at-Cliffe wo ich letzte Nacht geschlafen habe. Heute morgen ging es erneut früh raus um die Fähre nach Calais zu erwischen. Es war wirklich beeindruckend den Fährhafen zu sehen und all die Leute die an unterschiedliche Orte reisen. In Calais angekommen, hatte ich dann einen “privaten” follow-me car der mich aus dem Fährterminal geleitet hat. Das Wetter heute war auch wieder sehr schön, wenn auch etwas wolkiger. Nachdem ich durch ein kleines Stück Frankreich gefahren bin, kam ich letztendlich nach Belgien. Landschaftlich hat Belgien wirklich sehr viel zu bieten, genauso wie erstklassige Radwege. So sehr ich das Vereinigte Königreich auch mag, das wäre definitiv eine Sache von der man sich eine Scheibe abschneiden könnte um das Fahrradfahren sicherer zu machen. Heute schlafe ich in Brügge. Brügge ist eine sehr schöne Stadt und wer noch nicht hier gewesen ist, dem empfehle ich definitiv mal einen Besuch hierher. Der nächste Stop morgen ist Antwerpen.
