Hey everyone,
My name is Yannic Hage and I am a medical student at the Kassel School of Medicine in cooperation with the University of Southampton.
For this years summer break, I have decided to start the event 'cyclingmedic', where I will be cycling for charity from the main campus of the University of Southampton, Great Britain, to the hospital "Klinikum Kassel" in Kassel, Germany.
It would be hugely appreciated if you could give me a follow on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I will be giving news and updates regarding my 750 mile journey starting on the 14th of June 2019.

Some of the reasons why I chose to undertake this project includes:
One of my greatest motivations when deciding to go to medical school and become a doctor is the knowledge that I will be able to help provide good medical treatment for everyone.
Furthermore, I have already been a voluntary worker for the Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. (aka. "Order of Malta"). This is an international health and relief organisation with projects around the world.
During the first year of my studies at the University of Southampton I was privileged to watch a child being born. It was a breath-taking and fascinating experience, and I am really grateful that I was offered such an experience. Nevertheless, I am very aware that the birth was in a state of the art medical environment at the University Hospital of Southampton. Sadly, this is not widely available to many mothers in labour around the world. This situation also taught me how important it is to provide good medical care and the proper environment for that.
Due to this, I have chosen to support the project: “Maternity Hospital in Tanzania” from Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V.

I know that this is only a small contribution to the whole international situation, nevertheless, I think it is important to provide the youngest and their mothers with good medical care, and a hygienic environment that offers them a good start into life.

GERMAN VERSION - DEUTSCHE VERSION
Hey, mein Name ist Yannic Hage und ich bin ein Medizinstudent an der Kassel School of Medicine in Kooperation mit der University of Southampton in England.
Für meine diesjährigen Semesterferien, im Sommer, fahre ich mit dem Fahrrad vom Hauptcampus der University of Southampton in Southampton, Großbritannien, an das Klinikum in Kassel um Spenden zu sammeln.
Aus diesem Grund heißt meine Aktion auch "cyclingmedic".
Ihr könnt mir gerne auf den sozialen Plattformen unter dem Aktionstitel folgen um dabei zu sein wenn ich die 1200km ab dem 14.06.2019 fahre.

Nun noch etwas zu meiner Motivation:
Seit einigen Jahren engagiere ich mich ehrenamtlich bei den Maltesern, vorwiegend im Katastrophenschutz. Ein Großteil meiner Motivation für das Medizinstudium ist es weltweit Menschen den Zugang zu einer angemessenen und guten medizinischen Versorgung zu ermöglichen.
Während meinem ersten Studienjahr durfte ich eine Geburt beobachten, was wirklich eine großartige und zeitgleich faszinierende Erfahrung für mich gewesen ist. Doch ich bin mir auch bewusst, dass es sich hierbei um eine Geburt in einem Universitätsklinikum mit maximaler medizinischer Ausstattung gehandelt hat, wie sie leider nicht überall auf der Welt verfügbar ist.
Diese Erfahrung hat mich noch einmal mehr gelehrt, wie wichtig es ist, gute medizinische Räumlichkeiten zur Verfügung zu haben.
Aus diesem Grund habe ich mir das Projekt "Geburtsstationen in Tansania" ausgesucht.

Ich weiß, dass es sich zwar hierbei nur um einen kleinen Beitrag an der internationalen Situation handelt aber ich finde es wichtig, dass die Jüngsten, sowie ihre Mütter eine Chance auf gute medizinische Versorgung bekommen.
Diese Erfahrung hat mich noch einmal mehr gelehrt, wie wichtig es ist, gute medizinische Räumlichkeiten zur Verfügung zu haben.

this is just to inform you that I have finished my fundraiser.
Thank you so much again for supporting me and the fundraiser. Combining all fundraising platforms I was able to raise more than 3000€
That's so overwhelming! Thank you and who knows, the next fundraiser might be me cycling to Tanzania. Until then, there are many many other great projects to support.

dies ist nur ein kurzer Hinweis, dass die Möglichkeit zu spenden für dieses Projekt nun beendet ist. Noch einmal vielen Dank, es ist echt beeindruckend gewesen wie viele Leute mich unterstützt haben.
