RESTORE Cameroon is a program designed to improve community health systems such that Cameroon’s high motility rate linked to life threatening diseases and medical complications can be reduced to the barest minimum.

In Cameroon, 2 people out of every 5 live below the poverty line. A huge chunk of the population perpetually lives through untold financial difficulties needed to access basic health services. From eyewitness accounts and the media, we hear, see and live situations wherein especially poor women and children die alike from life threatening health complications due to lack of timely medical intervention. These are unfortunate situations that could be handled with a little assistance. There are countless cases of under-5 children who died of malaria that could be treated at the cost of just 1 Euro.
We see numerous cases of children born with outgrowths; some developed outgrowths early on in life and needing emergency medical attention. There are others with various types of life threatening tumours, heart complications, lung problems and many other horrible medical conditions.
Another painful paradox of the health climate in Cameroon is that while its medical facilities from community health centers through district to general hospitals lack basic but essential equipment necessary to save lives, there is surplus in developed countries resulting from hospitals closing, downsizing and eliminating entire services. Restore Cameroon hopes to collect and channel such surpluses to Cameroon to be donated to underequipped health facilities. The program seeks to build a new consciousness in people through medical education and by mobilizing both the poor and rich at all levels to establish solidarity bonds amongst themselves through which mutual assistance is guaranteed when they donate time, material and money to save a life.
Volunteer time and goodwill will be harnessed from individuals and organizations to provide health facilities and communities with an integrated model for sustaining medical care and health education that is efficient and economical. The program stabilizes existing services, expand the range of services, improve access to health care, and advance the health status of the population over time.
As concerned as we are, often many people want to help but don’t know how to channel such help. There are those who could assist but think that their help might be insignificant considering the costs involve. While reflecting on this, the Organization For Life Care - a women and children focused NGO developed a strategy that can enable philanthropists and goodwill people respond to these worries. RESTORE Cameroon will embark on ongoing fundraising through varied channels and donors
