First Encounter Phase 2019/2020

The first phase of our youth exchange in South Africa took place over the New Year and the young people enjoyed the time together to the fullest. The 10 participants from Germany arrived in Pretoria on December 28, 2019 and dealt intensively with exciting topics such as racism and privileges as well as the sustainability goals of the United Nations.

In workshops and discussions, the young people gain interesting insights and develop new perspectives. One participant even noticed that she felt she was learning a large part of her school knowledge. But of course the young people also have enough time for fun and also to make new friends. Dancing together at the New Year's party has been the highlight of most of the participants so far. In the coming days, the team will go to Johannesburg to get to know the city and the history of South Africa better.
