In June this year I will be attempting to run 112km (67.5m) in an effort to raise as much money as possible for CBSM. I will be running the length of Hadrian’s Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle in one go (hopefully)!
CBSM is educating and feeding 800 orphan children in Kimilili, Kenya. So far the charity has grown from mud huts with cow dung floors to a permanent school building with 30 class rooms but there is much still to be done and more and more orphan children are coming to the school each year. As well as feeding all of the 800 children every day CBSM also provides a full time home for approximately 25 of the children. These children have flourished since being with the charity and have turned into confident young people. These success stories are due to the dedicated work on the charity and its staff and it is my aim to help, if i can, to raise as much money as possible to give a little more to children who desperately need it.
The costs of running such a charity are wide spread and there are so many things to take into account. 100% of all donations are used be it towards buying books, providing food or training teachers. Here is a rough idea of how your donation might help the charity:
EUR 5 - Average cost to buy a school book
EUR 40 - Cost for a school uniform
EUR 75 - Cost of clean drinking water for 800 children for 1 day
EUR 100 - Cost for lunch for 800 children for 1 day
EUR 250 - Costs of educating and feeding 800 children and staff salaries
EUR 500 - Cost per year to train a new teacher
It would mean a great deal to these children, as well as to me, to receive your support and any amount helps. If you would like more information about the charity please visit their website above. Please also feel free to take enjoyment in the pain i am going to put myself through. With winter training to look forward to I have added a motivator - I will donate EUR 10 to CBSM for every training session i miss. FYI Training includes 4 weekly runs, 3 bike sessions & 3 gym sessions so the donations will probably mount up!
Please give anything you can - your donation will make a real difference.
