    Über das Projekt

James N. von International Volunteers Network ist für dieses Projekt verantwortlich
Sseguku Primary School was established in 1957 as a community self-help project to provide primary education services to the children of the area.

In 1966, the school was handed over to the Government of Uganda. Since then, the school has been functioning and administered under the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education.

Today, Sseguku Primary School has an enrollment of about 900 pupils and 21 members of teaching staff.

Sseguku Primary School appreciates the funds allocated by Government and continues to play a major role in the local and National Educational programmes, it needs urgent assistance to enable it cause a change on the school’s infrastructure and the sanitation so as to rescue the pupils’ who are needy.

    1. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Since the school has no other income apart from the funds received from the government, it has been very difficult for school administration to cause any changes as far as putting up new projects in this school and renovation is concerned. This has resulted into the school having too old school buildings which are almost collapsing, which is a threat to our children and the teachers most especially during a storm.

Furthermore, the toilets available cannot cater for the increasing population in the school. The school has so many paths which go through it which has caused havoc to our children / pupils because every morning these pupils are always made to pick used up condoms from the classrooms, because these classrooms have no shutters, they are entered any how, any time by strangers most especially at night, there is no way the school can afford a watchman.

Presently, the population of over 900 pupils, if well accommodated, in well renovated classrooms and teachers’ houses, plus other factors which can address the school problems, would benefit and change greatly in their standards.

    3. OBJECTIVES:
 To accommodate pupils and teachers in healthy structures.
 To eliminate people from entering the classroom any how, any time.
 To improve the standards and discipline of the pupils if space is enough.
 To avoid people from tress passing through the school compound.

    4. DIRECT BENEFICIARIES:
If the grant is got, the beneficiaries are pupils, teachers and community.
Total number of pupils is 900 pupils – 500 girls and 400 boys.

    5. VISION, MISSION, GOALS:
The assistance of required infrastructure renovation, school fencing, headteacher’s house construction, main hall construction if provided by donors will greatly help the school’s outlook to depict a healthy, homely and up to standard structures to accommodate future citizens of this nation. It will help eliminate any predicted changes of outbreak of diseases and even death which may occur due to collapsed buildings.
