My Fundraiser Letter

Dear Friends and Family,We hope that this letter finds you all doing wonderfully. This past year has been an incredible time of growth for us and we are looking forward to what the rest of 2010 will offer. Scott is running our growth consulting company “The Get Smart Group.com” and I am working full time as a volunteer while earning my masters degree in entrepreneurial leadership. We are both very involved with serving people within our community here in Los Angeles and have also been given an opportunity to help impact and serve globally this summer. We wanted to share with you this incredible adventure we are taking on together…as part of my volunteer service, I will be going to Africa!

I have been invited to participate as a marketing intern July 9th-24th with an organization called Africa HEART which brings health education and awareness to youth and assists with development of microeconomic opportunities to the Women caretakers of orphans of AIDS within Kenya. I was invited into this opportunity by a friend and employee of HEART, Steve Sacher, whose dedication to service and care of others in need globally has inspired Scott and I greatly and led us to support the organization by using our skills, resources and strengths to assist them in their mission. Scotts’ contribution is his financial and emotional support and technical skills and my contribution is the hands on service within Kenya itself. Together we are a strong team, however We need your help to make this opportunity the success it deserves to be!

Our goal for the trip is to work with HEART to capture video footage, take photos, keep a blog, interview employees and caretakers and write down the stories of hope, joy and inspiration and recognize the individuals working in Kenya for their extraordinary and unique contributions and for their dedication and compassion, which will serve as an inspiration to other potential volunteers, donors and service teams. I am thrilled as a marketing consultant to be able to collect and tell these stories of triumph and character with dignity worthy of the determination with which they live out their daily lives.

We are inviting you to participate as a prayer partner and a financial supporter in our goal to raise the $4500 required to pay for travel and living expenses while in Kenya.

On this trip, I am working completely as a volunteer, which is why your partnership is crucial. It is my passion to learn how I can practically take on some specific areas of need in the world and apply my skills and experience to be part of a tangible solution and reform, not foster an ongoing dependency. Together, we can assist this organization with creating tools and resources to tell these impactful stories of inspiration and hope.

HOW TO SUPPORT:

Prayer - we absolutely need your prayers now and throughout the trip. Please pray for Scott as he remains here in the US, for emotional strength and peace. Please pray for me, for my health and safety, team unity and clarity of vision while I am working in Kenya with the HEART team.

Funding - The cost of the trip is $4500, we know times are tight for many people, but any amount of contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated and put to great use.

Please remember that no amount is too small to make a difference. After all, David killed Goliath with only a single stone. Help us throw this stone that we’ve chosen with such accuracy and strength that no one can question the love that we as a community are willing to share with others in need.
