Liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer,  bevor wir einige der kleinen Erfolgsgeschichten aus den letzten Wochen und Monaten teilen, möchten wir uns herzlich für eure Unterstützung bedanken. Besonders in Zeiten, die so unsicher sind wie das bisherige Jahr 2020 macht jeder Beitrag einen Unterschied. Ohne euch wäre das Projekt Habibi.Works nicht möglich!  Nachdem der landesweite Lock-Down in Griechenland im Mai zu Ende ging und im Juni auch die Richtlinien für soziale Interaktionen gelockert wurden, hat das Team in Katsikas sich sofort daran gemacht, neue Formen für Angebote und Aktivitäten in Habibi.Works zu entwickeln. Seit Anfang Juni können Menschen, die im Camp von Katsikas, im nahegelegenen Dorf oder in Ioannina leben, jede Woche von Dienstag bis Samstag von unserem speziell eingerichteten Verleih-Service Gebrauch machen und sich Fahrräder, Werkzeuge, Sport- und Musikinstrumente und Bücher ausleihen.  Zusätzlich bietet das Team an drei Tagen die Woche Fahrradreparatur-Workshops unter freiem Himmel für Einzelpersonen und kleine Gruppen an. Die neue Habibi-Pergola spendet Schatten für die Science Wednesday Klassen, die zweimal wöchentlich stattfinden. Ihr solltet euch, falls noch nicht geschehen, auf jeden Fall das vierminütige Video auf unserem Youtube-Kanal zum Entstehungsprozess der Pergola anschauen! Es ist mit Sicherheit das atemberaubendste Großprojekt, das wir in 2020 realisiert haben. Während des Lock-Downs und in den Wochen danach, setzte unser Team vor Ort alles daran, nicht nur die Menschen in den Camps sondern auch die lokale Bevölkerung und die Infrastruktur zu unterstützen. In unserem MediaLab fertigte das Team mithilfe des Lasercutters hunderte Gesichtsvisiere an und stellte diese lokalen Krankenhäusern und Initiativen auf den griechischen Inseln zur Verfügung. Wir hoffen, euch geht es gut, egal wo auf der Welt ihr die letzten Monate verbracht habt. ***************************************** Dear Supporters, Before we share some of the latest, small success stories about the activities in Habibi:Works with you, we would like to use the opportunity to thank you. In these unusual, uncertain times, every contribution counts. Without your support, the project Habibi.Works wouldn’t be possible.  After the nationwide lock-down in Greece came to an end in May and many social restrictions were lifted in June, the team of Habibi.Works immediately started to develop new forms of activities and services. Since the beginning of June, people living in the refugee camp, in the village of Katsikas and in Ioannina can borrow bicycles, basic tools, books, sport equipment and music instruments in a specially designed rental system every week, from Tuesday to Saturday. In addition to this important program, the team of Habibi.Works is running open-air bike-repair workshops on three days a week with individual users and small groups Meanwhile, the new Habibi-Pergola is providing shade for the Science Wednesday classes that take place twice a week. In case you haven't seen the four minutes video of the building process on our youtube chanel, you should definitely take the time to watch it! The Pergola might be t h e most amazing big project we created in 2020 and the video sums up the astonishing process, the collaborations and the feeling it created within the community in a beautiful way During and after the official lock-down, our team on the ground invested all their time and energy in the support not only of the people living in camps but also of the local population and the infrastructure in the region. In the MediaLab, the team created hundreds of face shields with the laser cutter and gifted them to two local hospitals and to initiatives on the Greek islands.  We hope that wherever you spent the last months, you are all healthy and well.
