    Aberdare ecosystem is the home to the world famous aberdare national Park in Kenya. It is also a Water tower that provides water to Nairobi city.Over 50% of water that produces electricity in kenya come from the aberdare ecosystem. This project aims at restoring tree cover in the aberdare ecosystem to prevent rivers drying up. Kiangure springs environment initiative was started to mitigate the negative effects of defforestation in this ecosystem and to restore the tree cover. it started in 2007 and have planted over 30,000 sedlings of indigenous trees . The project involves 20 members and 10 volunteers and is expected to have far reaching positive effects to all those who depend on water from Aberdare ecosystem.over three million people will directly benefit from this project. The project will benefit local communities around the aberdare and the wider Kenyan society because of clean water and Electricity generated from Hydro-electricity dams drawing water from this Ecosystem.Trees will also brig abundant rainfall and ensure food security thus reducing human-wildlife conflict. The problems in this forest is illegal tree cutting, farmers encroaching the forest, charcoal burning etc. This project will address this challenges. Donations will go to establishing indigenous tree nurseries, environmental education to the location community , tree planting in the forest and project monitoring and evaluation.
