Wake Up Ugandan Children Foundation is a Ugandan NGO, which was founded in 2012 and started off as a community project. The founder Ayazika Moses wanted to contribute to the village he grew up in and support the children and elderly thereof. Ever since then the organization has grown, we are now 6 members and are able to support 38 children. Since 2021, we are also registered as an NGO in Germany.
WUCF is based in Kigungu, a fishermen village at the shores of Lake Victoria. Addressing different issues, we aim at transforming our village through sensitisation, and empowerment of youth and women. Our program encompasses among others a sponsorship program that sends children to school, sports interventions especially in (girls) football, a gardening project for women and mothers. Besides the above, we also work on sensitisation of boys and men to create a society in which our youth can thrive.
Most of the children we support, learn at boarding schools. As in every December, also this year, our kids are coming back from school to spend their holidays at home in Kigungu. However, many foster families struggle to provide meals for the children given the current inflation.
Therefore, we created this fundraiser. Our aim is to be able to give our children a christmas season they deserve, a holiday season where they can be happy children having enough energy from the meals they eat.
Let's get together to make this come true! Our children will be thanking you so much!
For reference:
5€ - A Christmas meal for a child.
25€ - A Christmas meal for a family - What a treat!
50€ - 50 kg of staple food to give to a family.
