Über das Projekt

Yvette Mutumba von Contemporary And Non Profit CAN gUG ist für dieses Projekt verantwortlich
Young writers from Africa and the Global Diaspora urgently need support to ensure the presence of their views on contemporary art production. Too often they are still underrepresented in many culture media outlets. Additionally, young writers from these perspectives frequently have to work in politically, economically and/or socially challenging circumstances . Since C&'s launch in 2013, our core mission is to change the narration of visual art and its history by supporting young and independent voices from Africa and the Global Diaspora. We are consistently expanding our global community made up of local creatives based in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the US, and Europe - meaning first-hand input, assessment, and knowledge. They diversify our ever-growing projects such as our online and print magazines, traveling exhibitions, art commissions, and educational programs.

C& Magazine publishes weekly features, columns, reviews, and interviews in English and French. C& América Latina Magazine publishes all texts in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Check out the online magazines here: contemporaryand.com and amlatina.contemporaryand.com! Being read in around 100 countries, all texts produced by the young art writers reach a truly global readership.

WITH YOUR DONATION YOU SUPPORT:

  • Fair renumeration — all C& content is  produced by young art writers and cultural producers from Africa and the Global Diaspora and followed by a truly global community. C& has always been committed to paying all contributors fairly. Your support ensures we can continue doing that and that.

  • Increased capacity — all too often, tight budgets influence and limit our editorial and creative decision making. Your support expands our potential, enabling us to create more content and develop more projects.

  • Creating more space — C& holds space for points of view on contemporary art production not seen anywhere else. Your support ensures we can continue to train and platform young practitioners from Africa and the Global Diaspora.

  • Expansion — our magazines C& Magazine and C& América Latina Magazine include texts in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Your support widens our offering beyond colonial languages and allows us to grow our global community of local creatives based in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the US, and Europe to write and read in their indigenous languages.

  • Independence — every year we spend hours filling out funding applications and making sure our work aligns with the goals of our funders. Your support frees us from this dynamic and enables us to let our imaginations lead the way.
We’re grateful for your support and excited to be building this future together!

YOUR DONATION MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!

And beyond,
C& Team
