Educating thousands of children via radio school

Give thousands of Zambian children their best chance to learn. Our solar and wind-up radios and MP3 players provide daily access to radio school, and a high-impact programme that has educated nearly 900,000 vulnerable children.

Help us send thousands of children to school, for less than $1 each. With our solar and wind-up Lifeplayer MP3 radios, children in Zambia can listen to a local radio school program called Learning at Taonga Market.
The program, based on the national syllabus, has been running successfully for more than 10 years; and is the best chance for children in rural areas to receive a high quality basic education. Often these children live far from government schools and in areas that lack trained teachers. Radio school learners often score higher on exams than kids at “regular” schools – because learning is fun and the best teachers deliver the lessons.
Our Lifeplayers are solar powered so they don’t need expensive batteries. They allow school lessons to be pre-loaded, and listened to again and again. Under the guidance of a literate adult mentor, children can also listen to the radio; and radio broadcasts and voices can be recorded. One Lifeplayer reaches at least 60 learners.
We have an urgent need to supply another 200 Lifeplayers to impact 7,200 young learners. Donations will be used to purchase and deliver Lifeplayers with pre-loaded education content. With a Lifeplayer and a mentor, a school can be created anywhere!
