Exciting News on Our Plastic Waste Management Project!

Dear Donors,

We hope this message finds you well. We're excited to share a brief update on our Plastic Waste Management project at schools in Yaoundé, Cameroon. In March 2024, three members of our project team from Berlin visited the site to assist and further implement the ongoing project. During this particularly instructive period, a wonderful intercultural exchange took place, allowing us to achieve several significant milestones.

We are pleased to announce that we have further developed our project and now have a second school involved. We are constantly looking for more schools to join and expand our efforts, aiming to continually develop and enhance the project's impact.

With input from surveys, we designed theoretical and practical workshops to teach students effective plastic waste management. This includes sorting waste and using tools to create recycled products, resulting in cleaner schools and better health outcomes.

What has been achieved so far?

 • Workshops: Successfully conducted educational workshops on waste separation and avoidance to promote general sustainability awareness.

• Recycling Training: Students learned to make products like pillows and vases from recycled plastic, fostering creativity and practical recycling skills.

• Water Filters: Installed at two schools, providing clean drinking water for the students and reducing plastic bottle use.

• Tree Planting: Enhanced the school's environment and educated students on the importance of sustainability in their direct environment.

What comes next?
 
We will continue monitoring our progress to ensure sustainability and make necessary adjustments to maintain the project's effectiveness. Additionally, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our initiative to more schools, broadening our reach and fostering a larger community of environmentally conscious students.
