Über uns

CIDS4WOMEN is CIDS project designed to help teenage single mothers to return to School or learn a vocational trade. CIDS has two established Pre-primary and 2 primary Schools institutions established to help underprivileged, orphans and street children to access and gain good basic pre-primary and primary School education for free. One of these Schools is located in a remote village in the Northern Province of Port Loko District, Kambia Makama Village TMS Chiefdom and the other School is located in one of the remote and marginalized community in Wellington Philip Street, Freetown.

70% of the children in our Schools are from single mother’s parent homes and 40% of these are teenage single mothers who have the desire to go back to School or learn vocational trade. 50% of them got pregnant as a result of poverty, 10% of them got pregnant because they grown up as orphans with no one to help them. 10% lost their husbands and others were abandoning by their husbands. These single mothers came in to our office crying asking for ways to help them become self reliance and some still want to go back to School but no one to help them. To help many of these teenage single mothers we decided to start a small tailoring School for them with 15 sewing machines, 3 tutors and with other needed materials to commence the training project in early 2012.
