Walio katika Mapambano na AIDS Tanzania (WAMATA) is a local non-Governmental organization (NGO) established to fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. It was established in 1989 and officially registered on 21st March, 1990 with registration number SO.7264 and obtained certificate of compliance with registration number 0841 on 25th June, 2009. WAMATA Vision: envisions a fully empowered community to prevent and control the spread of HIV/AIDS and mitigate its impact.

Among other Programs in her socio-economic development strategic interventions and efforts to mitigate the escalating need for support to the HIV/AIDS infected and affected in the operation area, WAMATA implements a child warefare project intended to provide care and support to orphans and other most vulnerable children (MVC). The main aim of the project is to contribute to the provision of essential services to the most vulnerable children (MVC) and participate in mitigating the impacts of HIV/AIDS and poverty to the affected children and their families. The project also aims at reducing discrimination, stigma and suppression experienced by children affected by social and economic hardships, HIV/AIDS and any kind of children rights violation in their own families and surrounding communities. Supported services to most vulnerable children and their families include;
 Shelter and care; provided with bedsheets, basins, soap, and construction or rehabilitation of houses for those whose houses are in poor conditions.
 Education support: providing with scholastic materials such as exercise books, pens, pencils, school bags,mathematical sets, shoes and school uniforms. Training fees for out of school children vulnerable children for technical training and tool kits to enable them be self employed.
 Health support; Facilitated accessibility of health services to most vulnerable children by supporting them with health insurance, health education to care takers etc hence improving health status.
 Psychosocial support: Conduct home visits to vulnerable children families, psychological counseling to MVC and their families.

 Protection and care: processing birth certificates, regular legal advice on inheritance rights and conducting reconciliations sessions to families with conflicts over defrauded properties of the deceased parents.
 Food and nutrition. Food support provided to the MVC’s families with food insecurities. Advise care takers and parents on balanced diet, good nutrition to children and mobilize them to utilize locally available resources.
 Economic strengthening and support: Families caring for MVC are encouraged to establish income generating activities, supported with animals such as goats, chicken etc. Strengthening economic capacities of vulnerable families through savings and credits schemes.

The organization has meager resources to enable it provide the needed support to these vulnerable children and their families hence seek for internal and external assistance.
