Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry

Über uns

BACKGROUND
Ikageng is an NGO, founded by Carol Dyantyi in 2003 when she started caring for two children in her neighbourhood who had lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. Experiencing the disbelief of living with the community that shuns children because of the status and suffering, and when more children came to her for help, she started urging companies for assistance in caring for children in deep need of help.

The project, Ikageng Itireleng, is a community outreach project which currently serves more than 1300 Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC). The number of orphans cared for has increased rapidly since 2004. Most of the children have been witnessed as Child-Headed Households (CHH) of which one child in an average of six children per household is forced by circumstances to meet the needs of the younger siblings or assume the role of a parent.

Others have either a terminally ill parent or no parents at all while some survive with their grandparents who hardly have enough on their social grants to maintain the numerous needs of their grandparents.

Ikagageng growing stronger for the 10th year in 2012

  C. Dyantyi  16. März 2012 um 11:08 Uhr

This year Ikageng is 10 years, we started of as a small organisation, and today we support over 1500 beneficiaries in over 250 households. I beleive we are still to go on for another 10 years. This all would not be possible without support. It is amazing how people are so eager to lend a helping hand.

We have recieved help and donations from  all over the world, and this motivates me as well as my fellow staff memebers to continue doing the work that we do and do it to the best of our ability, after all the future of the world will be continued by the children we support.

Ofcouse it has not been easy over the years, we have faced so many challenges that could have made us loose hope, but when you have children around you that encourage you and motivate you to stand firm and continue fighting it all becomes worth it, and I must say I am proud that Ikageng is where it is today.

To people out there: remenber that it does not take one to be a millionaire and to make a diffrence in someone's life. Give a litlle that you have and to someone else that comes as a huge gift. Suppot a child even if its for a year, buy them clothes, uniforms or maybe pay their fees, take them to movies a hug is more that enough. Sponsor a child in need after all it contributes to making the world a better place.

I am inspired by those who have given their time, money and have taken the initiative to pledge a certain percentage of their salary to assist ikageng and its beneficiaries.

It takes a village to raise a child, Do not be left out be part of the village and help make a diiference in the growth of the children and the well being of the world

Doante to Ikageng and help us put a Smile on childrens faces.
