Gea Chelonia Foundation is non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to the tortoise conservation in Bulgaria. Our main activities are research on biology and ecology of both tortoise species, restoration and stabilization of their populations, head-starting and reintroduction programs of young and confiscated tortoises, rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of sick individuals, promoting issues related to the conservation of tortoises and their habitats, green educational and spreading information. Until now we successfully rescued and relocated thousands of tortoises from building sites around the Black Sea coast; carried out and published scientific researches; raised the interest of local communities, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and business in issues related to tortoise conservation.
