NMUN Reutlingen Delegation 2010

Über uns

Having successfully represented the country Kuwait in the world's largest UN-simulation in New York City in 2009, Reutlingen University is again preparing a delegation to represent Colombia at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in March 2010.

The group will simulate the UN as junior diplomats together with about 4000 other international students and politicians from all over the world. The objective will be to represent a country's interests. Throughout the whole process the students will get to know the daily life of a diplomat, enhance their intercultural competences and learn to go through difficult negotiation processes during the conference. Besides developing their rhetorical skills, they will especially improve their organizational and time management skills as well as their self-confidence.

The many activities of the delegation include a teambuilding seminar in Reutlingen, weekly meetings to discuss current developments, a seven day preparation seminar at the Haus Rissen Hamburg (international institute for politics and economy) and a visit to the Colombian Embassy in Berlin. Apart from that the delegates organize a blood donation event, an alternative career forum and other cultural events.

The 22 delegates highly reflect the internationality of the United Nations. They come from all over the world, including countries like Japan, USA, Columbia, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, Peru and Germany.

Unfortunately the participation in this program includes very high costs of about 2.000 € per student. We are searching for sponsors that would like to support us in any kind of way: It could be by participating at one of our events as a speaker, with train tickets from Reutlingen to Frankfurt, with providing business cards for the delegates or with money. As an exchange we would be very happy to mention you in our news articles, website and public events.
