Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda (GHAIND Uganda) was established by a Group of Local Rural Women with aim to taking the marginalized and poorest populations of Women, Orphans and Abandoned Children, People with Disabilities and the Youth of their plight living in the remote villages and on the streets.

Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda (GHAIND Uganda) was formed purely because of the gender imbalance, resulting from the high levels of Gender Based Violence (GBV), Family Neglect, Women and Human Rights Abuses, Ethnic Clashes and Cattle Rustling that causes high family death, high levels of illiteracy among the marginalized and poorest populations of women, orphans and abandoned children, people with disabilities and the youth with a deprived nomadic culture/norms which led to high levels of diseases and coupled with rural nomadic migration life.

Also the causes of war and the 20 years conflicts, especially in Uganda and other parts of East African Countries, devastated and affected the vulnerable communities, mostly the women and children. As a result of this sufferings, a group of mostly rural women, came up and decided to formed Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda (GHAIND Uganda) to fight and advocate the plight of the most marginalized and the poorest population, mostly women, children and those children abandoned on the streets including the youth and people with disabilities.
Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda was established in 2005 and fully registered as a local charity organization in 2010 with Registration No. S.5914/8554 by the National NGO Board, mandated to operate countrywide in 114 district in Uganda, Its headquarters is in Namugongo, Kampala, Uganda and with the Regional offices in Kaabong District in Karamoja Region, Soroti District, Teso Sub Region, Mbarara District, Western Region, Gulu District, Northern Region covering Luo and Acholi land and Arua District, West Nile Region.

Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda (GHAIND Uganda) has more than five years experience in implementing women's emancipation advocacy and communication as well as promoting children’s project/programme in 114 districts in Uganda.

The organization is exposed and working in direct partnership with the Ministries of Health, provisional and districts health management teams as well as teams at the health facility levels to support more than 2,700 health facilities in 114 districts and also supporting over 500,000 disadvantaged populations countrywide in Uganda.

Beyond Health, Livelihoods, Education and Child Protection, Water and Sanitation, Governance, Accountability &Participation, Research and Innovations, Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative Uganda supports activities attention to peace and conflict management, non-communicable diseases and health systems strengthening in Uganda and beyond with truck record of successful implementation of rural projects over the years.

The organization broad aim is to advance the social, cultural and economic status of women, orphans and abandoned children, people with disabilities and the youth women in Uganda, East Africa interventions on health, food security and nutrition, girl child education, women/human rights campaign with focus to build consistency of empowered grassroots communities, engage in local development, so that they can make positive contributions to their well-being, homestead and the region at the large.
The strategies
Global Health And HIVAIDS Initiative (GHAIND Uganda) is supporting and improving the lives of the most marginalized and poorest groups through strengthening and promoting their quality of health, livelihoods, education, good governance, accountability and participation and identifying and scaling up locally appropriate solutions to their critical problems in the areas of emergency.
