In an era, where education is a profit making business and modern education often translates to learning in foreign language and exorbitant fees, Thai Tamil Palli was inaugurated in year 2000 at Roshanai, Tindivanam with 21 students with goal to provide free modern education in mother tongue to underprivileged sections of the society.
Most of the student's parent are daily labourers and about 90% of the students belong to socially and economically underprevileged sections. Thai Tamil Palli is not a government funded/aided school and it runs solely on donations from philanthropists including actor Suriya's Agaram foundataion, Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation, Vedavalli Ammal foundation
