Afri-Tanzania Volunteers for Change is a Volunteer Organization started working since January 2013 and registered with registration number 00NGO/00007623 under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children in Tanzania. It deals with facilitating youth (locally and internationally) to volunteer to the society by giving a helping hand in every way they can.

Afri-Tanzania Volunteers for Change (AVC) is a highly recommended not-for-profit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They offer a variety of volunteer opportunities including teaching, marketing and advertising, volunteering in an orphanage and working with human right issues. These projects include the following:

Teaching and Education:
Volunteers can teach English, Physics, Biology and Math at Kibwegele and Kibamba secondary schools, teach English at Mloganzila and Kibamba primary schools and Teaching English and crafts(Drawings) at Nursery schools both located in our host communities. Our schools face a shortage of teachers.

Orphanage Centers:
Volunteers may work with children in “New Life Orphans Home” located at Tegeta and “Child and Son Center” at Mbezi both in Dar es salaam Region 10-20 km from AVC office. Teach English, Math or health lessons to children, washing clothes, Organize sporting events for orphans to improve their social skills and other duties volunteers want to arrange. The volunteers can live at special Rooms within the centers.

Capacity Building, Awareness and Advocacy.
Support by run projects based on Children, women and disabled Rights, Reproductive health, Environmental conservation, entrepreneurship education, and drug abuse to primary and secondary school students and youths Groups in Kinondoni District of Dar es salaam and Kisarawe District of Pwani Region. The beneficiaries are youth between ages 7 to 24. This project aim to create youth to be good future generation and leader for providing soft skills and awareness needed to them to ensure they know them self and have self determination.

Advertising and Fundraising Opportunities:
Volunteers can help AVC expand virally throughout the world by advertising the organization. Furthermore, volunteers can help write grant proposals, Funds or Fundraising to support our programmes, collect used and new tools, School books, clothes and other equipment like computers and anything from their home countries to donate in order to support poor children and orphans lives in rural communities and AVC projects.

Accommodations involve a home stay with a local family and include 3 meals per day. Volunteers will share one house, but separate rooms with the other family members. The house will have water, electricity and toilets. There are no single occupancy rooms available, but if the house is not full volunteers could be placed in single rooms upon request. AVC Volunteer Center is dedicated to making their volunteers as comfortable as possible and ensures they have the most memorable time possible.

Airport pick-up is available from Dar es Salaam International airport for $60 USD including program arrangement fee. Volunteers can be picked up by local staff members any time of day or night, but be sure to tell the staff when your flight lands . It is possible to travel to Tanzania in any period of the year, so don’t let weather stop you from volunteering. Some work placements may require the use of public transportation, so please inquire specifically about your placement and if this is required. Public transportation may range between $0.5 USD to $2USD (go and return) each project day.
