Über uns

Destiny primary school is an education project by BUCALPO created to support children who don't go to school due different reasons that have affected their loved ones. some because of loss of their loved ones, others because of poverty, most of the girls teenage pregnancy and some boys early marriages as a custom in their community
The project is located in Bugoye Village, Ntenjeru Sub-county, Mukono District, in the eastern part of the central Uganda. The nearest school from this community is 5 kilometers where 2 year old children and toddlers walk on a bare footed, with a poor road with sharp stops to and from school in a hot sun.
some children at the teenage ages give up because its difficult to wake up , walk and learn then back home to feed animals. so take a short cut to custom marriage and others go for jobs like fishing.
The school targets to help stop the school drop out in this community, cut the distance for all small children, and provide education for all children including orphans and vulnerable children who have no shoulder to cry on. The school currently has 88 pupils from Nursery to grade 4 and this is the second year its has existed.
Teachers too walk about 5 kilometers plus to get to the school since in this community a few student who qualify with a degree rush to the Kampala city for work than straying in a boring village.
The situation is to bad for both pupils and teachers but God willing we have managed to support the 88. we have hope hope that when we get better buildings we can accommodate and educate many children and this will be a cornerstone turned AROUND in this community.
The community has hope in BUCALPO but we have less to give back.
your support will help to put up better blocks for children studies, better buildings for children who stay in a home, and better accommodation for our 10 teachers.

Volunteer's Day at BUCALPO
A typical volunteer day starts at around 8:30AM, when the morning children who stays out arrives at the home. After serving breakfast t, the children split up into their assigned groups, and volunteers and teachers work with them on their homework and after school programs start as time table runs. If they do not have homework, the teachers and volunteers go straight to the government recommended syllabus and other activities to reinforce areas in which these students need additional attention. Depending on the day, an hour is either dedicated to going to the playground, arts and crafts activities, computer class or other enrichment opportunities like reading and other skill development programs.

At midday, the volunteers assigned to supervise lunch stay with the morning group as they eat, brush their teeth and head off to school. Around 1:00PM, the afternoon group arrives and has lunch. The afternoon session has a similar set up as the morning group, with activities being adapted to the different age groups.

This opportunity of making a difference is open to all those volunteers who are looking for a chance to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.

The Children Advocacy and Life planning Organizationwas started as an initiative to empower children and youth and women in this village who have been traumatized by the lack of enough education. Children in this area normally end up their education in secondary school which is grade 8-12 is a non-qualifying position or grad for any Job in the country. They end of going under marriage because they have land to cultivate food for their sustainability of their own families.
