The Young Achievers Caucus is a NON-PROFITABLE, Non-Governmental Organization, founded by a group of very vibrant and concerned youth in the Western Region of Ghana on Sunday, November 18th, 2012. The organization as required by Law is a registered private non profitable organization under the Company’s Registration Act, with registration number CG036932013. The organization was founded on the principals of Love for mankind.
Since its inception two years ago, the organization currently has over two hundred (200) members, with Ten (10) members forming a very strong and vibrant executive committee (core team). YAC has so far been working on it main developmental project dubbed the Grassroots Development Project (GDP)
The Young Achievers Caucus (YAC) believes in the importance of providing the individual with the needed facilities and support in order to help, train and prepare the individual to attain independence and to become self-sustained. YAC also believes that the government alone cannot be tasked with the entire development of the country, individuals and organizations must support. Reaching out to the deprived communities in the country and beyond is not only termed as a social responsibility, it is also a moral obligation.
The Young Achievers Caucus is mostly dominated by youths who understands and appreciates the essence of having good Education, Better Health care and good infrastructure. Since the organization is being fully funded by the individual contributions of members at the moment, the organization is limited financially to fully execute the various programs designed by the organizations for those in the selected deprived communities. The support from an external body or individuals will help the organization to fully achieve it set goals and objectives especially with respect to programs designed to help children and people in deprived communities of the country.
The Grassroots Development Project (GDP) being the first action plan focuses on Health (Sexual and Reproductive health), Education (Promoting and enhancing good education through ICT and the donation of educational materials) and the provision of infrastructure(Libraries, bore-holes, toilet facilities) where necessary. This project seeks to improve the lives of people in deprived communities of Ghana. Women and children are the main focus of the project; the organization channels resources into providing women and children in these deprived communities with the necessary skills and tools, through the organization of sustainable and development oriented activities. These includes; engaging them in Sexual and Reproductive Health Education, supporting them with donations, training them in small scale businesses to help them support themselves and their families and helping them to build infrastructures to support and enhance good living where there is a need.
As part of the main constitutional mandate of the organization, the Young Achievers Caucus has maximized it potentials as a young and a new youth-led NGO to carry out sustainable developmental projects specifically in three deprived communities in the Western Region of Ghana, West Africa; Sendu, Kanokware, and Nyame Bekyere.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
The role
of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), especially
internet in the education sector plays an important role, especially
in the process of empowering technology into the educational activities.
ICT is not just the bloom of the educational activities, but it is also the
secondary option to improve the effective and meaningful educational process.
ICT has been developing very rapidly nowadays, therefore, the need to balance
it, the whole educational system should be reformed and ICT should be
integrated into educational activities.
The influence of ICT, especially internet cannot be ignored in our student’s
lives. Being aware of the significant role of ICT in our lives, especially in
the educational activities, the management of YAC has considered it worthy and
wise enough to implement strategies to empower ICT in supporting the teaching
and learning process in the classroom.
It is against this back drop that the YAC team will be implementing the “ICT project” under our Grassroots Development Project (GDP). The project will begin its implementation in some selected schools in some deprived communities of the western region of Ghana. The parents who have their wards in some of these selected schools are mostly peasant farmers and therefore are not capable in assisting the schools to meet the conventional trends in education. Trends in education globally indicate that children should be equipped with skills in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in order to be at par with their peers in other institutions which have ICT equipment. Most children in these selected schools have challenges in the ICT subject and do not perform well in the final examination for certification due to lack of ICT equipment in the school. It will therefore be of much relevance and benefiting to the schools if they are supplied with ICT equipment to help the children to improve upon their ICT skills practically as well as their performance in their final examination.
