Über uns

DEUTSCH:

ENGLISH:

Schoenstatt is an apostolic movement with a Marian spirituality and part of the Catholic Church. It was founded on October 18th, 1914 by the Pallottine Father Joseph Kentenich in Vallendar, Germany, near the Rhine river. Fr. Kentenich and the group of students offered the Blessed Mother every sacrifice for an authentic sanctity in their everyday life, sealing a Covenant of Love with her. Thus arose a strong Apostolic Movement of renewal that is present in 5 continents through a network of over 200 centers. Over 15 millionen people are reached by projects of the Schoenstatt Movement.

Today the work of Schoenstatt has become a global network of major pilgrimage centers and more than 20 communities, lay and religious, for men, women, families, youth and priests. This movement works on a broad level, from the religious sphere, to educational and social projects. Through faith formation Schoenstatt opens concrete ways for personal, matrimonial, and family growth to live an active Christianity in the midst of today's world. Schoenstatt has a strong lay and Marian character. Schoenstatt believes that the Blessed Mother is the perfect way of following Christ. People inspired by Schoenstatt seek God in life, that is, in people, in events, and in the signs of times. Schoenstatt wants to be family and work for the goal that the Church and the world become a family, fighting to overcome individualism and materialism that prevails in today's society.

Schoenstatt is heading today to celebrate 100 years of history, thanking for the great gift of God and renewing its mission for the Church and the world. The Great International Pilgrimage of the Jubilee is to be held in Schoenstatt and Rome between the 16th and 26th of October, will gather the family around the world, congregating, about 10,000 pilgrims seeking to celebrate and give thanks for these 100 years, beginning together the next century as a gift for the Church and the world.
