BACK GROUND
SHELTER A CHILD UGANDA [SAU] started in 2008 in Kabale district, south western Uganda with the main focus of providing holistic support to the orphans and other less privileged children in surrounding community children in Kabale.
SAU has focused attention on the problems of orphaned and other vulnerable children (OVC) through a number of policies regulations and initiatives aimed at helping OVC and the.

The project has put in place a Primary school for currently 36 children under the care of Shelter A Child Uganda But hopes to support more vulnerable children. the establishment of such school facility was demanded driven by the terrible conditions the orphans and other total needy children were living, community members .The community having realized that such children have been orphaned ,children who have been neglected and children exposed to situations of sexual abuse , demanded the establishment of the project specifically for these OVCs.

The Community supports the Project in many ways, for instance, provision of fire wood to prepare breakfast and lunch for the children, papyrus reeds for fencing the school premises.
SAU intends to start up poultry project as a subsidiary to supplement on the existing community effort for sustainability. Research to conduct a situation analysis of a vulnerable child in kabale district and viability of a poultry project has been conducted.
The situation analysis aims to increase the understanding of the scope of the problem of vulnerable children and the response to it, including the food spectrum of the core services in order to facilitate community planning and to inform current and future programming efforts
