Unity for Humanity Ghana (short UFHG) is a very young NGO (non-governmental organization), which was established in November 2012 by three friends. The organization was created out of the need to improve the reputation of people with disabilities in Ghana, to raise awareness for them and above all to draw attention to the problem of HIV / AIDS. In Ghana, many people with disabilities do not have a chance of medical attention and no access to information about HIV / AIDS. There, people with disabilities have until today, in the 21st century, still little chance of inclusion in society and support from state institutions.

Therefore, it needs (unfortunately) still the engagement of civil society and NGOs, working for the rights of the disadvantaged.

Together with civil society, UFHG would create a greater acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities in Ghana. This target is currently focused by the following programs:

-> HIV testing for people with disabilities in the surrounding communities of the capital Accra
-> Information sessions and workshops on the subject of HIV / AIDS
-> Micro loans for people with disabilities whose want to open their own small business
-> Apprenticeships for young people with disabilities
-> Individual sponsorship for selected children with disabilities

Aims for the close future:
Organizing a Fairtrade cooperative with products from our own Ghanaian sheltered workshops, develop a partnership with a sheltered workshop in northeast Germany (Uckermark), and implement computer workshops for persons with disabilities.

UFHG has decided to be an organization with no religious association. In this way we would like to maintain neutrality and independence.

UFHG wants to move the society to become an active part of a change to be with and strengthen a togetherness among all members of the Ghanaian society.
