Über uns

Regent Park is Canada's oldest and largest social housing project which is in the midst of a revitalization. In the heart of Toronto, the youth of Regent Park take us on a tour of their culturally diverse neighborhood. The journey, however, is not by foot or by car, but through the lens of community television and radio. Our broadcast project's objective is to overcome mainstream media directed at low-income communities by empowering youth and residents to self-represent.
Right now, we are in the midst of building Regent Park Focus Community Television (www.regentpark.tv) which will be a fully equipped television production studio housed at Regent Park Focus Youth Media Arts Centre. It is intended to produce a wide range of live and pre-taped television programs on a weekly one hour time slot on Rogers TV. Segments of the television shows that have aired will also be archived and available for viewing on the internet around the world.
Specifically, donations will help us purchase quality studio equipment and a closed circuit television board through which we can also deliver our radio program, Radio Regent (www.radioregent.com). The mandate of Radio Regent is to provide a voice to Regent Park and other ethno-racial and marginalized communities. And, of course, we need money to staff these initiatives so that we can offer training to all interested youth and community members for free! As a donor, you will see the difference your donation has made by staying tuned to our radio and tv websites. We thank you for your generosity and compassion in advance - please know your donation will make a difference!
