Mission & Vision
The mission of Hakuna Matata is to create a non-profit center of sustainable living that will function as a place of nurturing, education, personal development, and economic empowerment to disadvantaged and abused women and children in the Meru and Isiolo areas. The support and education provided by Hakuna Matata will not only give these women and children the power to pursue their life goals; it will also contribute to the sustainable development of the local community in the process.
The long-term vision of Hakuna Matata is to provide a site that will be self-sustaining in all aspects, including financially, eventually not needing to rely on outside donations
Hakuna Matata has its roots as a shared vision between members of a Kenyan community who were informally supporting about 20 orphans and abused children in and around the Meru area since around 2008. Unfortunately, the global economic downturn hit the area hard in 2008 and many of the residents could no longer afford to support the children, who in many cases were forced to drop out of school.
Julius, a native resident of Meru, was nearing completion of his master’s degree in New Zealand in 2010. He knew of the situation back in Meru, and saw this as the perfect opportunity to use his education to help create a positive impact back home. He envisioned creating an official non-profit charity organization in Kenya dedicated to supporting and providing care for orphans and abused women and children in the Meru/Isiolo area. He then reached out to the international community to find people who were willing to collaborate with him on the project. A variety of people from different countries and backgrounds came forward and were eager to help contribute their unique skills to the project. Thus, Hakuna Matata was born in April 2010.
Them money collected here is designated to go to satisfy the needs for the 8 orphans in our sponsorship program. 80€ will be enough to send 8 kids to school for one month. Hakuna Matata Deutschland e.V. will continue to support these kids by collecting money from well wishers in Germany.
A donation amount of €80.00 was requested for the following needs:Child Sponsorship for September €80.00
